Lyttleton Port is the major trade gateway to the South Island, New Zealand. The Christchurch earthquakes significantly damaged over 75% of the port’s wharfs, and have required major remediation work and long term planning. The main sections of the wharf are the Inner Harbour, Reclaimation, and Cashin Quay and Coal.

For the reinstatement and redevelopment of Lyttleton Port, FC International was engaged by Lyttleton Port to provide the master programming of the entire portfolio for the project, which amassed to $1.2 billion.

The Cashin Quay 2 Project focuses upon upgrading the wharf, based in Lyttleton Port, in order for the wharf to host large freight ships, and to expand its capacity. Once complete, it will be the most seismically resilient wharf in New Zealand. Work includes demolition work, installation of 294 steel piles, and dredging along the front of the berth. FC International’s role involves independent advice on total programme management, and to provide an in-depth programme and risk analysis, utilising Monte Carlo simulation.

The Papakura Community Probation Service Centre was a full project management role for FC International, where the team was engaged by the Department of Corrections to carry the entire project from start to finish, through the stages of design team, and the design process, procurement, management of contractors and cost, and until the end of the Defect Liability Period. This allowed FC International to report on all aspects of the project, while maintaining a high standard of cost, time and risk management for the project.

Te Atatu Fire Station is a brand new, state-of-the-art building that was designed to house both permanent and volunteer crews. It accommodates living spaces, with the functional requirements, office spaces, a gym, and a lecture room. The design of the Fire Station allows it to fit comfortably into its residential environment while delivering a highly modernised and specialised public service.

FC International was appointed by the NZ Fire Services to provide independent advice and services on various matters.

Having been seriously damaged by fire in 2010, and decommissioned ever since, a state-of-the-art meat processing facility was built to replace the existing structure. FC International was engaged to assist the construction law team and the head contractor in preparation for adjudication. Both the law firm and the contractor were extremely satisfied with the work by FC International, as our work was a key factor in determining the adjudication result.

A new Airport terminal is only built once in every 40 years for individual airports, so this project was an ambitious one, even before the earthquakes hit Christchurch. Operating in an advisory role for Christchurch airport, FC International was able to guide all parties as one team in order to resolve time related matters. FC International was also engaged with planning, scheduling and forensic analysis for the entire project, which included frequent site investigations and reporting on progress, as well as undertaking program gap and risk analysis.

The electrification of Auckland’s rail system was an upgrading project focusing on preparing the Auckland rail system for electric trains. This extends from Papakura to Swanson, including the Onehunga and Manukau links. The project involved the installation 3,500 foundations and masts, carrying 560km of overhead lines across 175km of railway tracks.

FC International was engaged by KiwiRail, to conduct  an independent review and assessment of time issues, with delay analysis across the entire project.

The plan of the Waterfront Auckland project is for it to become a key economic driver for the city’s future. The redevelopment is projected to extend over 30 years, directly supporting 20,000 new fulltime jobs in Auckland and contributing towards an additional 20,000 jobs across the region. FC International was appointed by Waterfront Auckland (and Auckland Council Organisation), and provided the 10 year master programme, including cash flow and risk analysis. This enabled the client to prioritise the work around the waterfront in order to achieve their long term goals for the city.

The curve of the Avon River through Christchurch will become the main feature of the central city Precinct, which was severely damaged throughout the Christchurch Earthquakes. FC International was invited to help align and control the time portion of this large scale project. This required effective and efficient coordination across all aspects of this ambitious project. To achieve this, FC International produced an in-depth programme for each of the ‘packages’ of the project, which each related to a different area of the Precinct. A new 10km pipeline will carry the wastewater from Waikeria Prison to Kihikihi as part of a new wastewater connection for the facility.

The pipe, which will be the longest wastewater pressure main in the Waipā network, will improve the health of the Pūniu River catchment as treated wastewater from the existing Prison treatment plant will no longer discharge into the Mangatutu Stream. 

FC International is engaged in the Waikeria Wastewater Project to develop the construction programme and to perform the programme monitoring & control.

The Sylvia Park Galleria project consists of the expansion of the shopping center.

Sylvia Park already sits as one of biggest shopping precincts in the Southern Hemisphere, but the addition of a new 900 space south car park and the Galleria will put the centre at around 90,000 square meters of retail space.

Park Residences is a 30 storeyed central city apartment building located in Auckland CBD. It consists of one parking basement, two floors of retail and 28 levels of apartments - 250 in total. The building is one of few in Auckland to be clad in glass and aluminum curtain wall.

FC International was engaged to perform a Technical Review/Analysis of the Construction Programme and provide 4D Planning.
